I moved to Rosewood
this past September after losing my wife Mary in August. We had been married
67 years. We spent most of our married life in Waukesha, where we
raised 3 daughters. I have six grandchildren and a great grandchild
on the way. My family now is in Michigan, Oregon, and Wisconsin.
I moved here to be near my youngest daughter Kathy and her family.
In Waukesha
I was involved in the First Methodist Church, Boy Scouts, Rotary Club,
Civil Defense, and teaching art classes at the area technical school.
I was an Independent Commercial Artist until I semi-retired by teaching
art classes out of my home until a year ago. I have been rich in family
and friends and miss all the wonderful people I had to leave behind.
I am looking forward to a "Birthday Open House" here in April to celebrate
my 91st birthday and hope many of my old friends are able to come see my
nice new place.
I was born in Evansville,
Indiana. I am a graduate of the Chicago Art Institute. I have
done commercial art in window display, theatrical design, merchandise and
package design, and dioramas for the Chicago Historical Society.
I am a past president of the Wisconsin Rural Artists Association and have
brought my art supplies to Rosewood to continue doing oil painting.
I completed this line drawing of the outside of Rosewood Villas last fall
and have just recently completed one of the gazebo in the courtyard.
I will be entering these two drawings in a Madison art show of senior citizen
art work in May.
I am an avid
bird lover and have put up several bird feeders outside my patio apartment.
I hope to lure the Madison birds to my door this spring. I am looking
forward to spring and getting outside more. I have already made some
new friends at Rosewood and hope to get to know more soon.
